R/V Catboat

Download the R/V Catboat
The R/V Catboat performs shallow water and nearshore bathymetric surveys, sidescan sonar sea-floor imaging, and swath bathymetry surveys. The Catboat can cruise at 40 knots fully loaded, enabling daily surveys in large estuaries, lakes, bays, or rivers, and near-shore ocean environments that require long transits.

Electronics and other equipment can be fixed upon a movable aluminum transducer mount that slides on rails located between the two pontoons. The mount can be quickly retracted out of the water for transiting to the study site.

The R/V Catboat has been used on mapping projects in Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina. It is towed with a triple-axle aluminum trailer with a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
