Below are links to archived images of the eastern Gulf of Mexico showing sea surface temperature with overlaying altimetry data as determined from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) onboard NOAA polar-orbiting environmental satellites. At right is a smaller image representative of those contained within the archives; follow the link at right to view the most recent altimetry image. All images are in Mercator projection covering an area from 22.00°N to 31.61°N and from 79.000°W to 92.658°W. The resolution is 2.2 km per pixel from an original image at 1.11 km per pixel along the central latitude. Images include both land mask (brown) and cloud masks (gray), with hash marks every one degree. The temperature resolution is 1/6 degree Celsius. Altimetry is shown using 10cm contours above (white) and below (gray) geoid. Altimetry values are provided by Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research (CCAR) at the University of Colorado. Imagery data sets are provisional and the values are subject to change. The archive is arranged by year and month. Links appearing in gray-on-gray text have no data available for that particular month. |
