Bathymetry of the entire Florida Shelf
Response of Florida Shelf Ecosystems to Climate Change Learning Corner
How are economically significant resources such as fish, shellfish, and sediment-producing organisms and their habitats responding to climate change and resulting shifts in ocean conditions, such as temperature increases and ocean acidification? This question, and other similar and important topics, are being addressed in the USGS project “Response of Florida shelf ecosystems to climate change”. This project involves fieldwork, laboratory experiments, historical data, and satellite image analyses to address how the shelf environment and associated organisms will respond to climate change.

Isla del Cocos Fishes documentary
Fishes of Isla del Coco, Costa Rica
"Fishes of Isla del Coco, Costa Rica" is an six-minute movie featuring the antics of 22 species of fishes, one species of marine mammal and a few invertebrate species that inhabit the nearshore waters of Isla del Coco. Small butterflyfishes and angelfishes clean large sharks and rays; remoras harass divers, mobulas and each other; guineafowl puffers interact in curious ways; groupers and trumpetfishes eye an octopus; barnacle blennies daringly leap from their homes to feed; and bottlenose dolphins herd jacks into a "baitball" as a prelude to feeding.

African Dust, Coral Reefs and Human Health
This 10 minute documentary movie presents how recent changes in the composition and quantities of African dust transported to the Caribbean and the Americas might provide clues to why Caribbean coral reef ecosystems are deteriorating and human health may be impacted.
