The USGS St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center is part of one of the largest marine science communities in the nation. Our Center is staffed with geologists, oceanographers, microbiologists, ecologists, bio-geochemists, geographic information system (GIS) specialists, and scientific and administrative support staff who conduct research globally. Scientific field work is uncovering information and trends regarding coastal vulnerability to extreme storms, coral reef health, and impacts of climate and environmental change such as sea-level rise and ocean acidification in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, the Caribbean and western Atlantic region, and the Arctic Ocean.
