Grids (surfaces) were generated from publicly available NOAA Bathymetry data. Actual soundings may be downloaded from The NOS Hydrographic Survey Data Viewer. Soundings were filtered in order to minimize effects of multiple years of surveys over the same locations.
Usage Notes: This datset contains two layers, one of contours delineating depth, and another of colorized rasters of varying resolution depending on the user's zoom level. The user may run his or her mouse cursor over a contour to trigger a popup denoting the depth. To view the legend associated with the colorized overlay, expand the corresponding folder in the sidebar ("Depth overlays").
Disclaimer: Under no circumstances are these data to be used
for navigation. The database used to generate these points is
inclusive, but not exhaustively so. Notably, data points are more dense nearshore than far offshore, thus the
accuracy of interpolation is better closer to the coast. |
