The Coastal Center in St. Petersburg acquired aerial photography of the Florida Keys on Wednesday, September 30, 1998. Pre-storm coverage of the area had been obtained in June, 1998 thanks to the cooperation of the Coast Guard Air Station in Clearwater, Florida. The locations of greatest above-ground impacts from Hurricane Georges are generally in Area 3. The locations best illustrating below-water level impacts from the hurricane are generally observed in Area 4.
