Knauss Fellows Class of 1999 Visit and Tour Reston USGS Facility
On October 22nd the Knauss Fellows Class of 1999 visited the USGS Reston headquarters in an event arranged by this year's USGS Fellow, Jennifer Rahn. The visit began with lunch and was followed by presentations by Jeff Williams, who described the Coastal and Marine Geology Program, Sue Haseltine of BRD, Bill Alley of WRD, and Sara Gerould of the Ecosystems Program. The Fellows then toured facilities at the Center for Integration of National Disaster Information (CINDI), the National Mapping Division's Urban Retrospectives Investigations, the National Aerial Photography Program (NAPP), the enigmatic printing plant, the USGS library, and the Earth Science Information Center (ESIC). The Knauss Fellows were pleasantly surprised at the diversity of research conducted at the USGS.
