Data - Real-time Berm Overwash Model

Hindcast and forecast of wave height and overwash probabilities for Chandeleur Island, LA. Offshore wave heights are measured at NOAA buoy 40040 (top panel, solid line) and predicted offshore and nearshore by NOAA’s WaveWatchIII model (red dots). These data plus beach slopes are used to predict runup using Stockdon’s parameterization (R2% S2006) and a statistical estimator (gray-shading). Berm overwash was expected if the runup exceeds the 2-m elevation level.
