Summary

Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) St. Petersburg Coastal and Marine Science Center collected location data (horizontal and vertical coordinates) for 53 Ground Control Points (GCP) in North Topsail Beach and within the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, North Carolina, in June 2019. These GCPs were used to georectify aerial imagery taken post-Hurricane Florence (landfall September 14, 2018). The native coordinate reference system used to acquire the data was the World Geodetic System of 1984 (WGS84) utilizing the International Terrestrial Refence Frame of 2008. The final xyz data are provided in WGS84 as well as the North American Datum of 1983, North American Vertical Datum utilizing the GEOID12B model. Additional information for each point is also included, as well as photographs of each survey location. Please see the associated metadata for further details.

This work was supported by the USGS Remote Sensing Coastal Change project and the Office of Naval Research Increasing the Fidelity of Morphological Storm Impact Predictions project. We are grateful for the assistance of Jeremey Hoff and John Reeve at Camp Lejeune.
