Vibracore X-Ray

An x-ray image of a shorter core obtained about 24 meters away from the previous core shows laminations throughout with minimal disturbance. A pixel intensity graph to the right of the x-ray reflects laminae frequency. Periodic, thicker laminae (low pixel intensity) are coarser grained. Possible source for these thicker laminae is reworked lake bottom material being flushed into the dredge pit during storm events. Some of these coarser laminae are visible in the photograph of the top of the previous core (left of x-ray), suggesting the storm deposit extends across the pit floor.
